How to use

What it checks and how it works

The tool follows Google Search Central's video page, opened on 29 Oct 2026. It requires name, thumbnailUrl and uploadDate, and recommends description, contentUrl, embedUrl, duration, expires and creator (or author). Google asks for a unique name for each video, a time zone in uploadDate, and for contentUrl to point at the video file itself, not the page where the video lives; embedUrl is the alternative when there is no file URL. The tool accepts a length like 12:34 and writes it as an ISO 8601 duration. It does not write the extra types the page describes: BroadcastEvent for a LIVE badge, Clip and SeekToAction for key moments. It also cannot check that Googlebot can fetch the thumbnail or file.

Which properties are required for a video?

name, thumbnailUrl and uploadDate. Without them Google says it may not be able to extract any information about the video.

What goes in contentUrl?

The URL of the video file itself, not the page where the video lives. If there is no file URL, give embedUrl instead.

Does this add a LIVE badge or key moments?

No. Those use BroadcastEvent, Clip and SeekToAction, which this tool does not write. It builds the basic VideoObject.
