Open Graph and X Card Meta Tag Generator

Build the Open Graph and X card tags for a page and preview the share card.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The tool writes the Open Graph properties defined at ogp.me: og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url, which that page lists as required for every page, plus og:description, og:site_name, og:locale and the image properties og:image:alt, og:image:width and og:image:height. It also writes the twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description and twitter:image tags, with twitter:site and twitter:creator if you give them. Every value is escaped for use in an HTML attribute. Image checks use Facebook's sharing guide for images: at least 200 x 200 pixels, at most 8 MB, and 1200 x 630 or larger for high-resolution displays. Those are Facebook's figures and are not part of ogp.me. A picture you choose stays in your browser and is not uploaded. Limits: X's card documentation could not be opened on 29 October 2026, so the tool states no X size or length limits. Check X's current documentation before you rely on the twitter: tags. Each platform draws its own card and may keep an old copy, so the preview is an illustration.

Which Open Graph tags are required?

The ogp.me page lists four for every page: og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url. The others, such as og:description, are optional.

What image size should I use?

Facebook's guide asks for at least 200 x 200 pixels and up to 8 MB, and 1200 x 630 or larger for high-resolution displays. Check X's own documentation for its card images.

Why does a platform show my old card?

Platforms cache the title and image they read from a page. After you change the tags, ask the platform's own sharing debugger to fetch the page again.
