Meta Tag Extractor

List every meta tag, link relation, Open Graph tag and JSON-LD type in a page's head, and see what is missing.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The tool reads the pasted HTML and lists the title, every meta tag by its name, property or http-equiv value, link relations such as canonical, alternate hreflang and icons, the Open Graph and twitter: tags, and the @type values found in JSON-LD blocks. It flags a missing or repeated title, a missing meta description, canonical addresses that differ, a robots meta tag that blocks indexing, a missing viewport tag, a missing lang attribute on the html element, and an og:image without og:image:alt. Google documents the meta tags it understands, such as description, robots and viewport, in Meta tags that Google understands. Open Graph names follow ogp.me. A tag outside those lists is shown but not judged. Limits: the tool reads the HTML you paste and not the HTTP headers, so an X-Robots-Tag header is not seen; the HTTP Header Checker covers that. It does not validate JSON-LD against schema.org: it checks that each block parses and lists its types.

Does Google use the meta keywords tag?

It is not among the meta tags that Google lists as understood, so the tool shows it and does not judge it. Use the description and robots tags that Google documents.

Why paste HTML instead of a URL?

The tool runs in your browser and never fetches an address, so nothing about your page leaves your device. Copy the source or the rendered HTML from the inspector.

Does it check JSON-LD against schema.org?

No. It confirms that each block is valid JSON and lists its types, so use a structured data validator for the properties inside.
