Arabic Slug Generator

Turn Arabic titles into clean URL slugs, in Arabic letters or in Latin letters.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

A slug is the readable last part of a URL. Google's URL guidance recommends simple, descriptive words, preferably in your audience's language, separated by hyphens, and percent-encoding of non-ASCII characters in links. The tool removes tashkeel and tatweel, turns Arabic-Indic digits into 0-9, replaces everything that is not a letter or digit with the separator, and shows the encoded form. Latin mode romanizes with the ALA-LC based table used in the Arabic Transliteration tool and then drops the marks, so the slug is plain ASCII. It does not translate: a slug is either the Arabic words or their transliteration, never an English equivalent. Changing a slug on a live page needs a redirect from the old URL.

Is an Arabic slug bad for SEO?

Google's guidance recommends words in your audience's language in the URL, with percent-encoding of non-ASCII characters in links, so an Arabic slug is a supported choice. Choose one style and apply it across the site.

Should I use a hyphen or an underscore?

Google's guidance recommends hyphens to separate words, so hyphen is the default.

What happens to a slug I change later?

The old URL stops working, so add a 301 redirect from it to the new one. The Redirect Map Generator builds those rules.
