How to use

What it checks and how it works

Share of voice here means share of mentions: a brand's mentions divided by the total mentions of all the brands you listed. It is Zaher's definition for AI answers and other definitions exist, since other tools define share of voice by position, by citations or by reach. The share changes whenever you add or remove a brand, which is why the brand list must travel with the figure. Count all brands over the same answers, or the shares cannot be compared. Use the brand mention counter to get the counts. The shares carry the sampling noise of the answers behind them, so for a rate with a range use the mention-rate interval tool.

Why does my share change when I add a competitor?

Share of voice is a share of the total of the brands you list, so a bigger list shrinks every share. State the list next to the figure, or keep it fixed when you track change over time.

Is this the same as share of voice in advertising?

No. In advertising it usually means share of spend or of impressions. Here it is share of brand mentions in AI answers, using Zaher's definition.

Does the share tell me how often I am mentioned?

No. It compares brands with each other. The share of answers that name your brand is the mention rate, which the mention-rate interval tool handles with a confidence range.
