Citation Source-Type Classifier

Paste cited URLs, or a whole AI answer, and see what kinds of sites the assistant leans on.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

Each link is reduced to its registrable domain with the Public Suffix List, then sorted by a rule table: your own domains and your competitors' first, then Zaher's list of well-known marketplaces, review sites, news and editorial sites, forums, social and video platforms, and reference or public-body sites, then a few structural rules such as government and university suffixes. Anything the table does not know is labelled Other, never guessed. The table is Zaher's own, short on purpose, and dated 29 Oct 2026. It is not a measurement and not an industry standard, and the shares only describe the links you pasted. Add your own rules for the sites that matter in your market, and they win over the table.

Why are so many domains marked Other?

The table lists well-known domains only, and the tool labels the rest Other rather than guess. Add a line such as myniche-reviews.com = review in the rules box and the tool will use it.

Where does the source-type table come from?

Zaher wrote it for this tool: a short list of well-known domains plus a few structural rules. It is not drawn from a published dataset, so treat the labels as a working sort that you can correct.

Can I compare the shares with a study?

Only with care. The shares describe the links you pasted, which are a small sample from one assistant at one moment. Published studies use different categories, markets and sample sizes.
