URL Parameter Stripper

Remove tracking parameters from a list of URLs, and see what was removed from each one.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The tool splits each URL into its path, query and fragment, removes the parameters your rule selects and keeps the others in their original order. Matching is case-insensitive on the parameter name. The default list holds common tracking parameters (utm_*, gclid, fbclid, msclkid and a few more); it is a starting point, so edit it for your analytics setup. Some parameters change what a page shows, such as an id, a page number or a sort order. Removing those changes the page, so the tool's default removes only tracking names. Google's guidance on URL structure and canonicalization recommends one stable URL per piece of content, and a canonical tag for the clean version.

Which parameters are safe to remove?

Tracking parameters such as utm_source or gclid do not change the page. Parameters such as id, page or sort can change it, so keep those.

Do I lose my campaign data?

Only if you remove the parameters from the links people click. Clean the URLs you publish in your sitemap, canonicals and internal links, and keep the tagged links in your ads and emails.

Does it change the fragment?

Not unless you tick the option to remove it. Crawlers ignore fragments, so removing them is harmless for SEO.
