QR Code Generator with UTM Tracking

Turn a web address into a QR code, with UTM tracking added so scans show up as their own campaign in your analytics.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The code is drawn in your browser by the qrcode library. The tracking option appends the standard UTM parameters from Google Analytics' campaign URL documentation (opened on 29 Oct 2026) to your address, keeps any existing query parameters and fragment, and replaces a utm_ parameter that is already there. Google advises always using utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, and notes that names are case sensitive, so Print and print appear as two rows in reports. The tool warns about both. Error correction lets a scanner read a code that is partly dirty or covered. Level M, about 15% of the code, is the usual choice; higher levels make a denser code. The code is always dark modules on a light background with a quiet border, which scanners need. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

Why add UTM parameters to a QR code?

A scan opens the address like any click. Without tracking, it often shows up as direct traffic. With a UTM source, medium and campaign, Google Analytics reports it as its own campaign.

Which error-correction level should I choose?

Level M, about 15%, is the usual choice. Use Q or H if the code may get dirty or be partly covered, and L for a clean setting where you want a simpler code.

Can I print the code on a product or poster?

Yes. Keep dark modules on a light background, leave the quiet border, print it large enough to scan from the distance people will stand at, and test the printed copy with a phone first.
