llms.txt Validator

Paste your llms.txt and check its structure against the llmstxt.org format.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The validator checks the structure described at llmstxt.org: an optional byte-order mark, an H1 with the name of the site or project (the one required part), a blockquote summary, any Markdown except headings, then H2 sections that each hold a list of links written as [name](url) with an optional colon and note. The Optional section marks links an agent can skip. It checks structure only. It does not open your links, and nothing in it can show that any AI assistant reads the file: the format is a proposal.

What is required in an llms.txt file?

Per llmstxt.org, only the H1 with the name of the site or project is required. The summary, notes and link sections are optional but recommended.

Does a valid file help my visibility in AI answers?

There is no evidence that it does. Validity means the file follows the proposed format. It does not mean any AI engine reads it.

Why are relative links flagged?

An agent reading the file may not know which site it came from. Full URLs always resolve to the right page.
