Arabic Stop Words Filter

Remove common Arabic stop words from a text, and see what was removed and what is left.

How to use

What it checks and how it works

The tool splits the text into words (Unicode word characters, as in UAX #29) and removes the words that appear in the Arabic stop-word list of the open-source stopword package, plus any you add. Matching ignores tashkeel, tatweel and the alef, yaa and taa marbuta variants on both sides, so إلى and الى count as the same stop word. A stop-word list is a convention, not a fact about the language: the same word can carry meaning in one use and not in another. Read the table of removed words and add or take out the ones that matter to your text.

Which stop-word list does it use?

The Arabic list in the open-source stopword package (MIT). You can add your own words to it.

Should I remove stop words before writing content?

No. The tool is for analysis, such as finding the content words of a text. Write natural sentences, because readers and AI assistants read the whole sentence.

Does it handle prefixes like و and ب?

No. It matches whole words only. A word with an attached prefix is a different token and is kept unless you add it as an extra word.
